01 — The story

The story

Nargol Beach lies near the southern end of Gujarat's coast in Valsad district, well away from the larger towns. Long sandy stretches run along the Arabian Sea, shaded in places by palms and casuarinas, and the beach is known for being calm and uncrowded rather than for activities.

Walking along the waterline is the main pastime, best in the early morning or evening when it is cooler. The Parsi town of Udvada, with its important fire temple, is close by, and the forested hills elsewhere in the district make a contrast to the coast. Roads connect Nargol with Valsad, Udvada and other South Gujarat towns.
