Narayanbagh Lake, also known as Narayanbagh Sar, lies between the villages of Dab and Narayanbagh in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, 14 km from Ganderbal town and 30 km from Srinagar. It is a shallow body of water on the floodplain of the Jhelum, covering 24.3 hectares at an altitude of 1,587 metres, and reaches no more than 5 metres in depth.
Springs within the basin are its main source of water, which is alkaline, and marl coats the plants and sediment on the bed. Reeds of Phragmites and Typha line the shore, while Ceratophyllum and Myriophyllum grow in the deeper parts, along with the floating fern Salvinia natans. The seasons here are sharply marked, with temperatures ranging from -4°C to 32.5°C and heavy snow in winter.
