The story

Morkulangara Devi Temple is in Changanassery taluk of Kottayam district, about 2 km from Changanassery municipal junction and 1 km from the railway station. Its goddess, Bhagavathy, is represented by an image more than six feet tall, and she is believed to have settled here after slaying the demon Darika. A tall palm tree stands just in front of the sanctum, facing the goddess. The Travancore Devaswom Board runs the temple.

The main festival is the three-day Meena Bharani, held on Bharani star in Meenam, in March or April, when crowds of devotees gather. The temple pond is where the Shiva idol from the Vazhappally Maha Siva Temple is brought for its ritual bath during that temple's ten-day festival. Tuesdays and Fridays are the busiest days for worship.
