Monkey Falls is a natural waterfall beside the ghat road from Pollachi up to Valparai in the Anaimalai Hills of Coimbatore district. It lies about 29 km from Pollachi and 65 km from Coimbatore, some 6 km from the Aliyar Dam, next to a forest department check post. It is a popular stop where children and adults alike bathe under the falls, and a small fee is charged for entry.
For those wanting more, the forest department runs guided treks in season along a stretch of evergreen forest hemmed in by rocky cliffs; requests must be made to its Pollachi office about two weeks ahead. As the name suggests, monkeys are a feature here, and they are bold enough to raid unattended bikes. The rocks near the water can be slippery.
