The story

The ruined Mangla Devi Temple stands in Kagpur village, Vidisha district, Madhya Pradesh, on State Highway 19 about 33 km from Vidisha. It was built in the Paramara period, in the 10th–11th century CE, while the image of Mangala Devi was installed in 1306.

Among its carvings are a Nagakanya, or serpent maiden, in the tribhanga pose, another goddess standing, and three human figures embracing, along with vines, leaves, stalked lotuses and other patterns. The premises include a flat-roofed mandapa carried on twelve pillars.
