The story

Malakkappara is a plantation settlement in Thrissur district, right on the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border. Its name comes from the Malayalam Malakha-Para, 'Rock of the Angel', after a legend popular among the Saint Thomas Christians of central Kerala.

The area is made up of a Tata Tea estate and forest of the Vazhachal and Malayattur forest divisions, home to many endangered and endemic plants and animals. Malakkappara is 86 kilometres from Chalakudy along State Highway 21, a road that passes Thumboormuzhi, Athirappilly, Vazhachal and Sholayar, and 89 kilometres from Pollachi by way of Valparai. Sholayar Dam lies just 5 kilometres away.
