Kutladampatti Falls drops about 27 metres in a reserve forest near Kutladampatti village, close to Vadipatti and about 30 km northwest of Madurai. It is a favourite weekend outing for people from Madurai, with most visitors coming between September and February; in summer, or when the rains fail, the falls run dry.
Buses run from Madurai's Periyar bus stand and from Vadipatti, 8 km away. The local administration has laid paving and steps to the falls, and the tourism department has built a 2 km trekking path. Downhill lies the Swami Ramanagiri Ashram, set among mango groves with peacocks and several shrines, a quiet place for meditation.
