Kovai Kutralam Falls, also called Siruvani Falls, lies in the Western Ghats about 32 km from Coimbatore. The Siruvani River drops here in a series of cascades through dense forest; the largest, known locally as Peraruvi, falls roughly 37 m into a clear natural pool where visitors bathe.
Because the falls sit below the Siruvani Dam, the area is managed by the State Forest Department and remains largely undeveloped. A permit from the department is needed to visit, plastic bags are banned and littering is an offence. Local communities hold the river sacred and tell several legends about it.
