The story

Kataldhar is a waterfall near Lonavala in Maharashtra, close to Rajmachi Fort. It drops about 350 feet, with an overhang of more than 100 feet, and although it does not flow all year, it carries plenty of water in the monsoon. Getting down into the valley is fairly hard and calls for some trekking experience, which keeps it less well known than other falls.

The route leaves the Rajmachi trekking trail at a spot marked by three mango trees and drops through thick forest into the Ulhas valley. At the fall there is an eye-shaped cave large enough for around 100 people, and from it Rajmachi Fort (the Srivardhan balekilla) is in view.
