Kandhar Fort, or Kandhar Khilla, stands in the town of Kandhar in Nanded district, Maharashtra. Its building is attributed to Krishna III, the Rashtrakuta ruler based at Malkhed.
In 1631 a Mughal army led by Nasiri Khan laid siege to the fort and took it after 19 days. The siege was later painted by the Mughal artist Payag as an illustration for the Padshahnama, the official chronicle of Shah Jahan's reign.
