The story

Jatileswar Temple is a Hindu temple to Shiva at Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal. Its origins are traced to a feudal chief of the Gupta kingdom, who is credited with building the Purbba Dehar temple at some point between about 320 and 600 AD.

The Archaeological Survey of India protects the temple, and the West Bengal government has declared the Purbba Dehar temple an archaeological site and listed it among the State Protected Monuments. The Jalpaiguri Sadar subdivision administration is making it the centrepiece of a spiritual tourism circuit it is developing in the area.
