Jainimedu Jain temple is a 15th-century temple in Jainimedu, a suburb of Palakkad, and the place takes its name from it. It is dedicated to Chandraprabha, one of the Jain Tirthankaras, and was built by diamond merchants, a family from Karnataka. Few other places in Kerala keep such traces of Jainism.
Measuring 32 by 20 feet, the temple displays images of Tirthankaras and Yakshinis. After years in a run-down state it was renovated in 2013 and marked with a Panch Kalyanak ceremony led by the head of the Kanakagiri Jain Mutt. The Malayalam poet Kumaranasan wrote Veenapoovu ('The Fallen Flower') while staying in a nearby Jain house.
