The story

Jagdishpur Fort lies about 30 km west of Arrah in Bhojpur district and was the home of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, an Ujjainiya (Panwar) Rajput who, at the age of 80, led armed men against British forces in the uprising of 1857. He died in 1858. The main building has two storeys, with two large water tanks in front of it and a statue of Kunwar Singh facing the entrance.

The fort was renovated in 2005-06 and opened to tourists, with parts of it turned into a memorial. A gallery displays his personal belongings, among them his flag. Each year on April 23, Vijay Mahotsav Diwas is held in his honour.
