The story

Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya, better known as Indore Zoo, is a zoological park at Navlakha run by Indore Municipal Corporation. It opened in 1974 on 17 acres and grew to 51 acres in 1999 after taking over neighbouring land at Quadibag. It is described as the largest zoo in Madhya Pradesh and one of its oldest, and in 2020 it was called India's first smart zoo, with online booking and touchless entry. It has bred white tigers, Bengal tigers, gharial, Himalayan bears and white peacocks.

Among its residents are Indian elephants, hippopotamus, blackbuck, nilgai and sambar, along with Bengal tigers, Asiatic lions, leopards, hyenas, wolves and sloth bears. The bird collection runs from sarus cranes and painted storks to emus, ostriches and black swans, and there are mugger and gharial crocodiles. A snake house opened in November 2019 shows the venomous big four, kraits and vipers, as well as pythons and sand boas.
