The story

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden sits at the foot of the Zabarwan Mountain in Srinagar and is described as the largest tulip garden in Asia. Laid out in seven terraces over about 30 hectares, it grows 48 varieties of tulip along with daffodils, hyacinths, roses, narcissus and other ornamental plants. A water channel runs down through the terraces.

The tulips flower together in spring, covering the terraces in bands of colour. The garden opens to the public for the annual Tulip Festival at that time, which also presents Kashmiri handicrafts, food and culture.
