The story

Hatimura Temple is a Hindu temple at Jakhalabandha in Assam's Nagaon district, regarded as a Shakti Pitha. It was built in 1745–46, during the reign of the Ahom king Pramatta Singha.

The presiding deity is Durga in her form as Mahisamardini, the slayer of the buffalo demon. In earlier times the temple was an important centre of Shakta worship in Assam, and human sacrifices are said to have been made at its altars.
