Gulab Bari, whose name means Garden of Roses, is the tomb of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula of Awadh in the Ayodhya district. He had the monument built during his own lifetime, and it is a fine example of Nawabi architecture. It is protected as a nationally important monument under the Ancient Monuments Act of 1958.
The tomb stands in the middle of a charbagh, a four-part garden crossed by shallow water channels and fountains. Roses, the Nawab's favourite flower, are grown in the beds around it, giving the place its name. Inside, the central chamber holds the cenotaphs of the Nawab and his mother.
