The story

Dumuriput Ram Temple stands among green, rolling hills at Dumuriput in Koraput and is dedicated to Rama. Local tradition says a king built it after Rama appeared to him in a vision, and it has served as a place of worship for many centuries.

The front of the temple is covered in carvings, and its sculpted pillars and decorative motifs illustrate episodes from the Ramayana and other Hindu stories. The hall leads to an inner sanctum, where prayers and rituals take place amid Vedic chanting, incense and the light of oil lamps.
