The story

The Dr. Mangal Sain Museum, formerly the Haryana Rural Antique Museum, is housed in Gandhi Bhawan on the campus of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Built between 1975 and about 1978 to save the fading antiques of village Haryana, it was enlarged in 2010, rebuilt from 2018 to 2021, and reopened to the public in March 2022 by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Its collection traces how farming and rural society developed in Haryana, through clothing, farm tools and implements, household equipment, folk musical instruments, Haryanvi folk dress for men and women, and farm vehicles. Newer displays add soil samples from across the state, a scale model of the university's central complex, a library and a mixed-reality studio offering a virtual tour of rural life and the campus.
