The story

Dharmapureesvarar Temple is a Shiva temple at Vadakandam in Tiruvarur district. It has no rajagopuram; instead a compound wall encloses it, and stucco figures of Shiva and Parvati decorate the front of its east-facing gateway. There is a second entrance on the south side.

Inside lies a single prakara, with the balipeetam and Nandi mandapa close to the entrance. Shrines to Vinayaka and to Subramania with Valli and Deivanai stand on the west side. The sanctum of Dharmapureesvarar faces east, the goddess Swarnambal faces south, and the wall niches hold Dakshinamurthy, Lingodbhava, Brahma and Durga.
