01 — The story

The story

This wooden boardwalk runs through mangrove forest about 20 km from Rangat, beside the Andaman Trunk Road, and is described as the longest walkway of its type in India. It takes its name from a local mangrove species called Dhanipatti. A forest department panel along the route explains the role of mangroves, and a watchtower gives views over the area.

The walk ends at Dhani Nallah Beach, where Olive Ridley sea turtles come ashore to nest between November and February. Overnight stays are possible for those hoping to see nesting, under forest department rules meant to keep disturbance to wildlife low.
