The story

Deivanayaka Easwarar Temple, also called the Arambeshwarar Temple, is a Shiva temple at Elumiyankottur, close to the village of Perambakkam. Its name presents Shiva as the god who led the armies of the Devas, and the goddess is Kanakakujambikai.

The temple is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams and was praised by Sambandar in the Tevaram. Legend says Shiva met the saint here disguised as an elderly man and told him to sing in praise of the god. Worship of the cow, go puja, is carried out here regularly.
