01 — The story

The story

Chatri Talao is a historic reservoir in the south-eastern part of Amravati city. It was built in 1888 over the Kali Nadi spring to supply drinking water to Amravati, and today it is filled with water from the Upper Wardha Dam.

The lake is now a place for an outing rather than a utility. Boats can be taken out on both parts of the water, and trees and flowering plants along the banks make it a spot for birdwatching, picnics and family visits. The Ambadevi Temple, the city's leading shrine, is close by, and the Shri Bhakti Dham Temple is a short drive away.
