The story

Shree Charbhuja Nath Ji Mandir stands in the village of Garhbor in Rajsamand district, about two hours by road north of Udaipur. It is dedicated to Vishnu in his four-armed form, Charbhuja, and the image is believed to be one once worshipped by the Pandavas.

Legend says Shri Gang Dev was guided by a dream to recover the idol from water and install it here. The site is said to have seen some 125 battles over the centuries, and in times of danger the image was hidden underwater again until peace returned. The tall shikhara above the sanctum has an eight-sided dome flanked by two round spires. Inside are mirror work, golden doors to the sanctum and outer doors of silver. Garuda watches from the courtyard and two stone elephants guard the entrance.
