Brahmavart Ghat is a riverfront on the Ganga at Bithoor, in Kanpur district, and one of the town's holiest bathing places. Tradition holds that Lord Brahma started the creation of humankind here, shaping people from clay, and that he stayed at the spot and installed a Shiva linga now worshipped as Brahmeshwar Mahadeva.
A small temple to Brahma stands on the ghat, and a horseshoe nail set in the steps is said to have come from Brahma's horse on the way to the Ashvamedha Yajna. Pilgrims bathe in the river and pray here throughout the year, and boat rides on the Ganga are popular at sunset. Crowds peak at Kartik Poornima, Maghi Poornima and Makar Sankranti, and the Bithoor Mahotsav opens with a Ganga Aarti at the ghat.
