Avari Mata Temple stands in the village of Aasawara, in Bhadesar tehsil of Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan, in an area of hills and springs. The goddess Avari Mata is said to have been born into a Rathore Rajput family, and so she is also called Rathora Rani. Behind the temple are a pond and a Hanuman temple.
The temple is believed to have healing powers, and people have long come here seeking a cure for paralysis and polio, as well as for other chronic ailments that have resisted treatment for years. Many arrive with their families and stay on until relatives are well, visiting the temple and spending time in its surroundings.
