Asaladeebesvarar Temple is at Mohanur in Namakkal district, about 17 km from Namakkal, on the north side of the Kaveri some 2 km from the town's bus stand. Appar refers to it as Kumari Kongu in his hymns, and it is one of the Vaippu Sthalams. Shiva is worshipped here as Asaladeebesvarar, facing west, and the goddess Maduraveni faces east.
A story holds that Shiva and Parvati found Muruga here while he was wandering in search of the divine mango, so the place was once called Mahanur, the town of the son. A small spring is said to rise beneath the deity's feet and flow to the Kaveri, and devotees bathe in the river before worship at Aadi Perukku. The temple has a single prakaram with shrines to Vinayaka, Subramania, Nataraja, Kali and the 63 Nayanars, and the lamp in the sanctum is said to keep burning even in strong wind.
