01 — The story
The story
Areekkal Waterfalls, also called Arekuzha Waterfalls, is near Arekuzha village in Ernakulam district, roughly 35 km from Kochi. It lies in the Western Ghats in a quiet stretch of forest and plantations, reached by winding country roads.
The water falls about 30 metres (100 feet) into a rocky pool. Trails run through the forest to the base of the falls, and the surroundings are used for picnics, walks and photography. Birds, butterflies and small mammals can be seen in the area.
