The story

Aizawl Mosque is the main mosque of Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Jonab Deewan Musolman, who came from Dacca, now the capital of Bangladesh, led its founding in 1909, an event that marked the formal beginning of Aizawl's Muslim community.

In March 1966, during the air raids connected with the Mizo National Front uprising, aerial bombing destroyed the mosque. It was later rebuilt under the guidance of the late M. Bakhtar Uddin Majumdar, and the present building can hold around 2,000 worshippers.
