The Agastheeswarar Temple stands at Vadugan Patru in Kanyakumari district, a short walk from the local bus stop, about a kilometre from Kottaram and some 5 km from Kanyakumari town. Shiva is worshipped here as Agastheeswarar, and his consort is Amuthavalli.
The sage Agastya is said to have worshipped its deity together with his wife Lopamudra. The Saivite saint Appar also worshipped here and mentions the shrine in his hymns, so it is counted among the Vaippu Sthalams.
