The story

Tiruttelicheri Parvatheeswarar Temple stands at Tiruttelicheri, the place now called Koilpatthu, on the edge of Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Its presiding deity is Shiva, worshipped here as Parvatheeswarar, and his consort is Parvathi Ammai.

The temple counts among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, the Shiva shrines glorified in the early medieval Tevaram hymns. The Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar sang of this shrine, and one of his verses describing the deity names Telicheri itself.
