The story

Siddheshwar Nath Temple, also called Kardo Mahadev Temple, sits in the forested hills of Ziro Valley and centres on a Shiva linga that formed naturally rather than being carved. The stone rises about 25 feet, with roughly four more feet below ground, and is around 22 feet wide; devotees revere it as the largest natural linga in the world. Water flows at its base all year, and a band of sphatik beads shows near the top.

Nearby rocks are worshipped as Parvati and as Ganesha, the latter for a shape like an elephant's trunk, and there are stone images of Nandi and Kartikeya. The linga came to wide notice in July 2004, when a tree cut by a Nepalese woodcutter, Prem Subha, fell clear of it.
