01 — The story

The story

Shoghi is a small hill settlement about 15 km from Shimla, with just over 1,250 residents, set among green slopes, streams and lines of pine trees. It is often called a temple town because of the old shrines in and around it, and the area is known for fruit products made locally, such as juices, pickles, jellies and syrups.

Its best-known shrine is the Tara Devi Temple on a hilltop, dedicated to the goddess Tara Devi and looking out over the surrounding ranges. A Hanuman temple of historical importance also draws worshippers and offers mountain views.
