The Sheshnetre Temple is a shrine in Badrinath, close to the Alaknanda River. Tradition places it at the spot where Lord Vishnu reclined on Sheshnag, the divine serpent, in his cosmic sleep, and old texts describe this as the resting place he chose so that his energy would keep blessing the earth.
The sanctum holds an image of Vishnu reclining on Sheshnag's coils, with Neelkanth Peak rising behind the site. The building shows the work of early artisans, and pilgrims include it in their round of Badrinath's holy places.
