The story

Paampuranathar Temple stands at Thirupampuram in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, the Shiva temples praised in the Tevaram hymns of Tirugnanasambandar, Sundarar and Appar.

The temple is known for pujas to relieve Rahu-Ketu doshas and Nagadosham, and childless couples also come to pray here. Hindu belief holds that people troubled by serpent-related doshas can find relief by worshipping at four temples in a single day: Nageshwarar at Kumbakonam in the morning, Naganathar at Thirunageshwaram at noon, Pambureswarar at Thirupampuram in the evening, and the Naganathar temple at Nagore at night.
