The Onakadelli Nature Interpretation Centre sits among the forests of the Eastern Ghats in Koraput district. Its exhibits and interactive displays, explained by local guides, cover the plants and animals of the surrounding deciduous forest and the ways the region's tribal communities have long looked after it.
The centre has a large botanical garden holding rare orchids, medicinal plants, herbs and spices. Trails run from it through dense woodland and valleys, past streams and small waterfalls, where butterflies and uncommon birds are often seen. The centre also presents the culture of local tribes, including the Dongria Kondh, whose traditions treat the Niyamgiri hills as the sacred home of their deity, Niyam Raja.
