The story

Munakkal Beach, also called Muziris Munakkal Beach, lies on the Arabian Sea at Azhikode in Thrissur district, 8 kilometres from Kodungallur town, and is the biggest beach in the district.

The Harbour Engineering Department developed it under the tsunami rehabilitation programme. Facilities include a 400-metre open-air auditorium, a walkway 1,300 metres long, a rain shelter, food courts, toilets and a skateboarding area for children. A casuarina forest planted by the Kerala Forest Department is a further attraction.
