Mariam's Tomb is a Mughal mausoleum at Sikandra on the edge of Agra, raised in memory of Mariam-uz-Zamani, one of Emperor Akbar's wives. It dates from 1623 and is valued as much for its history as for its design, with the building framed by planted gardens.
Several stories gather around the tomb. One tells of a wish-granting lamp that Akbar gave to Mariam, said to survive in a locked chamber that only a special key can open. Another warns that anyone who disturbs her rest risks her curse, while visitors who come with good intentions have nothing to fear. Guided tours explain the site's past, and the tomb appeared as a location in the 2013 film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
