Malda Museum is an archaeological museum run by the West Bengal Directorate of Archaeology on Subhankar Bandh Road in English Bazar, Malda district. It was founded in 1937 as a collection of historic objects found in the district, kept inside the Malda District Library, and later moved into its own building next door when it gained full museum status.
Malda itself grew up under British rule, but the region was a seat of power in Bengal from the 7th century to the late 16th, when nearby Gour and Pandua served as capitals of all Bengal. The recently renovated museum presents the archaeology, anthropology and history of this area through sculpture, terracotta plaques, figurines, inscribed calligraphic tablets and other finds spanning more than 1,500 years.
