Lal Tibba sits on the hills of Landour and is the highest point in Mussoorie. From the top there are wide views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks, the valleys and the town below. The name means 'Red Hill' and refers to the rhododendrons that colour its slopes when in flower.
The spot gained its popularity under British rule, when officials and officers came up to escape the summer heat of the plains. They built cottages and bungalows in the surrounding greenery, giving the area the feel of an English country retreat.
