The story

The Kattubava Mosque, or Kattubava Pallivasal, is a Sufi mosque in the village of Kathvapallivasal in Pudukkottai district, 30 km from Pudukkottai on the Thirumayam–Madurai highway. Built in the Indo-Islamic style by the Arcot Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan Wallajah, it holds the tomb of the Sufi saint Bava Fakruddin and draws many Muslim pilgrims, famous for its urs in the month of Rabi-ul-Akhir.

An arched gateway flanked by tall minarets leads in. Inside, columns in rows hold up the vaulted ceiling of a large prayer hall beneath a big dome, and blue and white tiles adorn the mihrab.
