The story

Kamleshwar Dam, whose official name is the Hiran-I Dam, is an embankment dam of rock fill built across the Hiran River at Visavadar in Gujarat. Completed in 1959, it was made to supply water for irrigation, and it measures 764 hectares. What sets it apart is its location: the dam lies within Gir Forest National Park.

The reservoir formed behind the embankment is known for its birds and for its population of mugger crocodiles.
