Kalingapatnam Beach lies on the coast at Kalingapatnam, where the Vamsadhara River meets the Bay of Bengal, about 30 km from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. The state government recognises it, and the state tourism board, APTDC, promotes it to visitors.
Kalingapatnam was once a harbour from which goods such as textiles and perfumes were shipped out, until the port was closed under British rule, and a lighthouse stands here. The beach also goes by the name Open Road Sea, because the road comes to an end right on the shore.
