Kaladham Museum is a modern interpretation centre on the history and culture of the Vijayanagara Empire, opened in 2012 in the Hampi region and billed as the first museum of this type in the region. Instead of cases of objects, it uses screens, sound and hands-on displays to explain the archaeology and heritage of the old capital.
A multi-sensory theatre mixes video with virtual reality, and a mini theatre shows short films about Hampi past and present, including 3D VR sequences. A 360-degree panoramic film presents interviews with the archaeologists Fritz and Michell about their long research at Hampi. Folk dance, music and workshops are also part of the programme.
