The story

Jowai is a small town in the Jaintia Hills, home to the traditions of the Pnar people and surrounded by green hills with waterfalls and a lake within easy reach. It works well as a base for the countryside around it.

The Tyrshi and Krangshuri falls, where turquoise water pours over rocky cliffs into pools deep enough for a swim, lie near the town. Thadlaskein Lake, a short drive away, is said in local legend to have been made by Jaintia warriors, and its still surface reflects the nearby hills. Lalong eco-park, beside a river, is planted with many kinds of trees and looks out over the Pynthorwah Valley.
