The story

Joginder Nagar is a town in the northwestern Himalayas that spreads across altitudes from about 800 to 3,000 metres. It is named after Raja Joginder Sen, the 18th ruler of Mandi, and was founded to tap the hydroelectric potential of the area. It is said to be unique in Asia as a city holding three hydroelectric power stations. All of them run on water from the Uhl River, and they are an important source of electricity for Himachal Pradesh.

Visitors can see the dam on the Uhl and the Shanan Power House, where the turbines can be watched at work and the process of generating power is explained. The surrounding valley is green and wooded, with rhododendrons flowering on its slopes.
