Heingang Ching, also known as Marjing Hill, rises at Heingang in Imphal East district of Manipur. In Sanamahism, the traditional Meitei religion, it is a sacred hill and the home of Marjing, the ancient god of Sagol Kangjei (polo), Khong Kangjei (hockey) and the Manipuri pony.
Because of these ties to polo, the Government of Manipur laid out the Marjing Polo Complex across 23 acres of the hill, about four of them set aside as a grazing ground for Meitei horses. On the hilltop stands the Marjing Polo Statue, described as the tallest equestrian statue of a polo player anywhere, raised to honour modern polo, which began in Manipur. A polo ground on the hill and cable cars linking it with Langol Ching and Kangla Fort are planned.
