The story

Haripur Gada, or Haripurgarh, was the capital of the former Mayurbhanj State. It lies beside the Budhabalanga river in Badsahi block of Mayurbhanj district. Vaishnava poets mention the place in their works, and it is linked with Sri Chaitanya, who passed through on his way to Puri.

Within the garh, Raja Baidyanath Bhanja, a devout Vaishnava, raised a brick temple to his tutelary deity, Rasika Raya. The temple follows the Bengal style of temple architecture, which makes it one of only a few temples of that kind in Odisha.
