The story

Gurudwara Sahib is a Sikh place of worship in Shimla, built in 1907 and devoted to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who founded the Sikh faith. A dedicated area inside honours him with ornate decoration and paintings of his life, while marble work and colourful frescoes elsewhere show events from Sikh history, and Gurbani is recited in the halls.

A story linked to the shrine tells of Guru Nanak reaching a village split by caste and speaking for the equal worth of every person. That idea runs through the gurdwara's practice of seva and langar, a free kitchen that feeds anyone who comes, whatever their faith or background.
