The District Museum in Lunglei presents the traditional life of Mizoram's indigenous communities. Its collection includes stone work, metal carving, blue pottery, leather craft and ivory and brass pieces, along with exhibits on Mizo clothing, weapons, jewellery and utensils. A dedicated gallery covers the Mizo tribes, and archaeological finds, old photographs and natural history specimens add further context.
Tools, ornaments, textiles and objects used in hunting and war help explain daily customs, while a set of paintings and sculptures shows contemporary art from the state, dealing with subjects from landscape to social and political issues. Nearby, Thuamluaia Mual, about 4 km from the town, offers views across hills and valleys.
